You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Does anyone recognize this? Upon magnification you may recognize the Kreb’s Cycle or the Cellular Respiratory Cycle or you may have heard it referred to as the Citric Acid Cycle or the Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle.

Kreb's image
It is a series of chemical reactions used by all aerobic organisms to generate energy through the oxidation of acetate derived from carbohydratesfats and proteins into carbon dioxide and chemical energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

In addition, the cycle provides precursors of certain amino acids as well as the reducing agent NADH that is used in numerous other biochemical reactions. Its central importance to many biochemical pathways suggests that it was one of the earliest established components of cellular metabolism and may have originated abiogenically.

In other words, in case you’re not familiar with the Kreb’s Cycle, this is how we derive energy from food or from our own physical substance at the cellular level and it produces the energy required to turn our food into more complex molecules. Energy creates motion and motion is the sign of life. There are many biochemical reactions that are necessary for the Kreb’s Cycle to actually produce our energy. A good fuel source and a good vitamin and mineral source are nutritional needs and a good catalyst, oxygen, are the basics. At the more complex organizational level is nervous system function, which is another catalyst of energy production.

This is where chiropractic care of the vertebral subluxation complex can have the most profound healing outcomes. Imagine that the cellular respiratory system is not functioning at the level it should be because the catalyst of function has been degraded because of nerve system interference.  The outcome can produce some of the most retarded health conditions known to man, which are oftentimes misdiagnosed, over diagnosed, and placed conveniently in a disease category which is nothing more than a catch all diagnosis for a set of loosely related symptoms that are misunderstood. Talk about not being able to see the forest for the trees.

In the world of chiropractic we are taught to focus our attention on the cause of disease and not get too wrapped up up in the symptoms or effects of disease. By doing this we are often able to see where the interference to normal physiology and homeostasis really is. Remembering my last blog, we talked about the Human or physical aspects of our body (body, mind and emotional capacity) being connected properly to our Being aspect. I called it the one law: negative Human and positive Being, thus Human Being. The interface between the Human and the Being is of course the nervous system. Here in lies the innate intelligence that organizes the cells, tissues, organs and systems into one whole functioning Human Being. Part of the innate intelligence function is the provision of the energy that motivates our body. The production of our energy is part of the coordination of the life event. That moment of life that is eternal ever after. I like to call it the eternal moment and it is awesome to ponder upon. This is how we regain lost health. We first understand what the life catalysts are doing and we then look for interferences in those processes.

The answers are often found within and often corrected by natural means such as the attention to nerve dysfunction through the chiropractic insight or the elimination of toxins by detoxing and nourishing or the balancing of body energy through Reflexology and Reiki therapy. There’s a line in one of Bob Dylan’s songs that goes, “you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.”  We mostly don’t need a biochemist or a pharmacologist to know why we are ill but we do need a lot of common sense and understanding. That is where we at the Seaside Wellness Center are poised to help you. We get the connectedness of it all and it is vast and sometimes overwhelming but we stand steadfast and in position to help, naturally.

In health and spirit,

Dr. John Weisberg

The Krebs cycle brought back many memories from many years ago. Fact I got nauseated thinking about it,only joking of course .A marvelous function that takes place in the body everyday. The power that made the body heals the body that power is God.
